The intercontinental is conveniently located near the waterfront area and qurm beach, easily accessible via a hotel door. The breakfast offered a wide range of choices, and the restaurants provided excellent dining experiences. I loved the large car park and the excellent facilities at the palm beach club.

Place was modern and luxurious, really enjoyed the stay.
We had a laptop-compatible safe, a minibar and an iron in the standard double room.

The dining scene at the Intercontinental Muscat is a foodie's paradise! Loved munching on delish bites at Takara and Trader Vic's, where the flavors danced with local flair. Plus, the breakfast spread had a little bit of everything. The beach access was a dream for those sunset strolls.

I had bad experience with the staff during the stay, they are not responsive at all unless you keep tips to be served nicely. Bad laundry services with very high rates ($30) for preesing of one thoub and gutra!!! Executive suite with broken coffee maker machine for three nights. No adapter for 3 nights. I really got creasy, don't ask for Duty Mgr cause he won't reply (so busy!!!!)

The outdoor facilities, namely, garden and pool area. The check-in process at the 4th floor club desk was swift and efficient.Great sea-view from the room. The impressive entrance lobby and atrium. Very good selection of bars and restaurants.
Bathroom had seen better days and could do with a refurb. No stand-alone shower. At busy times service very slow at outdoor "Tomato" restaurant and also around pool area.

One of your Receptionist was excellent - actually all of them were very good but this particular lady stood out. I had visited Muscat before and had eaten at the Italian Restaurant at the Shangri-la Hotel. I had no recollection of the name of the restaurant but this particular lady found out the name and made the booking for me - she went out of her way to do this and to provide a level of service that was over and above what I expected.
Little bit shabby, rooms etc could do with updating and maintenance.

The location was unique, the staff was wonderful. Even the Muscat International airport was not so far, 18 minutes drive away. We truly enjoyed the room: it was comfortable and marvelous...

My room was on the second floor and had a nice view of the sea. However even though I am a platinum member with Holiday Inn (same group), I was not allowed access to the club floor lounge and there were no upgrades or any perks allowed. I think that the Holiday Inn group need to examine their policies regarding an upgrade because in any other Intercontinental hotel there is always an upgrade but not in this one. This hotel just does the minimum needed and their customer service is not very friendly or helpful.
One needs to ask for a higher floor because the hotel has a nightclub on the lower level and you can hear the "thump" "thump" of the drums as late as 3AM in the morning. The concierge does not have information about restaurants and tours and the hotel is very unhelpful about giving information about independent operator tours. There is no doorman to help with your luggage which I thought of a strange for a five star hotel

Comfort, quite, good service and restarurant, good for kids
Beach side was poor, i understand that it is open to the public but the hotel can put some facilities on the beach to serve its customers.

Location and access to the beach was very good. Nice gardens at the rear of the hotel.
Hotel is too expensive when compared with similar hotels in the gulf region. This seems to be the case with hotels in Oman. Although Oman is beautiful and the people very freindly, I would not return to Oman based on the expensive nature of hotels etc when I can get much better deals in the UAE.

good but not perfect stay
The lifeguard on duty was attentive. The city view from our balcony added a wonderful touch to our room experience.
The ongoing works beside the pool were a bit disruptive.

Great pool facilities and big spacious grassy areas - good for children. Beach access was good. Being able to get a room with two queen beds was excellent. Proximity to shopping centre.
